MARGUERITE ANTELL

CREATIVE VISIONARY OF THE “MUSHROOM HOUSE”

It all started with an idea and love of art.  Marguerite Antell had written down objectives of what she wanted in a home.  She wanted an “exciting adventure in living currently and the years to come!”  She wanted the house to “belong to its’ site and to have a natural honest feeling.”  She also wanted the house to be “its own decoration….with natural materials.”

The interior feeling needed to be “free, sculptural, three dimensional, fun, groovy, informal, dramatic, happy, unusual, open, sophisticated and comfortable.”  She wanted the “three dimensional expressed in a great ceiling with intriguing sky lighting.”  She wanted the house to be as “extroverted as possible and still maintain privacy.”

Marguerite Antell also contributed greatly to the construction, handmade tiles and other ceramic lighting to make the home what it is today including the newer addition!
